DESCRIPTION:The Office of Student Life and the Center for the Church and the Black Experience have partnered with the Northern Illinois Annual Conference to co-host a Movie + Discussion event on Wednesday\, October 2 between 6-9 pm for a screening of the film Origin produced by Ava DuVernay and based on Isabel Wilkerson’s book\, Caste: The Origins of our Discontents. Join us in person or online. In person screening will be in the Chapel of the Unnamed Faithful followed by a discussion in Main 205. Vimeo link for the movie and Teams link for the Discussion will be provided to online participants on the day of the event.  Please remember to choose Garrett as your screening location when you register. Attendance is free but registration is required to attend in person or watch from home.

They will discuss “Christianity in Mainland China\,” offering a brief history and overview of the current state of Christian churches in mainland China. The conversation will also address the challenges these churches face in the context of government censorship and persecution\, as well as the hopes for the churches in the future.
