SUMMARY:Student Council's Halloween Celebrations
DESCRIPTION:The Student Council invites the Garrett community to participate in a Halloween celebration on Wednesday\, October 30th. Costumes are encouraged and kids are especially welcome! Students\, staff\, faculty and families are welcome to trick-or-treat around campus from 2:30-4 pm. Staff and faculty members\, if you’d like trick-or-treaters to stop by your office\, please sign up below. We will provide an image of a pumpkin to place on your door on the day of the event so trick-or-treaters will know to stop by. Students\, if you would like to pass out candy or facilitate an activity\, please also sign up below. Trick-or-treaters will be provided with a map to locate all the offices/classrooms handing out candy/treats. After community worship\, at 5 pm\, the fun will continue with community meal and a costume competition. Sign up here>>

SUMMARY:Coming into the Circle – Engaging Garrett’s Indigenous Study Committee Report
DESCRIPTION:In the spring of 2022\, President Javier Viera commissioned a 14-member Indigenous Study Committee to examine the seminary’s impact on and relationship with the Native peoples of our bioregion\, to explore Indigenous theological perspectives and practices\, and to offer concrete steps for partnership and reparative action.   \nThe report\, shared with the seminary in spring 2023\, offers new perspectives on Garrett’s origin story in relation to the displacement of Indigenous peoples\, narrating the seminary’s complicity in land dispossession and cultural erasure. It also offers a bold vision for future collaboration with Indigenous-led organizations and communities\, rooted in justice\, accountability\, and restoration. The ISC’s findings and recommendations challenge us to confront this history with moral clarity and a commitment to reparative transformation.  \nJoin us virtually on Wednesday\, October 30th\, from 7:00 to 8:15 PM CST for a deep engagement with the ISC report\, including hearing from several members of the committee.
